Yesterday, World Architecture Festival, the largest and most prestigious awards ceremony in the field of architecture, revealed its 2024 finalist. Future Car Park and Cloud Bridge by Daniel Statham Studio have both been shortlisted for the awards, and the Studio will join the finals and award ceremony from 6th to 8th November in Singapore.
This year’s World Architecture Festival has the largest number of entries to date, as well as the fiercest competition. Future Car Park has been shortlisted for the “Completed Projects – Transport” category, and Cloud Bridge for “Future Projects – Infrastructure.” As a freshman to WAF, not only were both of our entries shortlisted, but Cloud Bridge was also chosen as the hero image to represent the category on the WAF’s official website. We would like to extend our gratitude to all team members, consultants, clients and all those who have been supporting our design.
With an integration of automated systems, cultural and commercial spaces, a rooftop garden, and external car showroom, this award-winning project proposes an innovative solution to the urban parking challenges. The futuristic redefinition of transport hub in an urban scenario highlights its unique presence in the category of Completed Projects – Transport at WAF 2024.
Shortlisted for Future Projects – Infrastructure, Cloud Bridge is a seamlessly floating public space. This 21st-century habitable bridge in Shanghai presents a hyper-use of functionality and public realm, combining connectivity with the piazza of the future. This infrastructure is a spatial urban canvas that activates a destination and social dynamic, inviting a spectrum of activities – markets, pop-up spaces, performances, retail, and exhibitions.
