In addition to being the winner for Public Service Architecture and regional winner for Public Service Architecture in China, the Studio also had been successful in the American Standard Innovation Award offered by IPA’s major sponsor Lixil, aiming to celebrate the most innovative entry project of the year. This special award remained confidential and was revealed only at the ceremony, which provided us a beautiful surprise.
It was especially an honour for us that Lord Richard Stuart Best (Baron Best, OBE, DL, FAcSS), member of the House of Lords and Chairman of International Property Awards, collected the Award on behalf of Daniel Statham Studio at the ceremony.
“It’s a great honour to receive the American Standard Innovation Award, which is a great deal for our practice. We thrive for innovation in all the works that we do, especially within this project. We tried to approach this project as a new urban typology,” suggested Daniel Statham.
“I think the key aspect that helped us win this award was through the adoption of new technology and innovative methods – vertical parking, AGV systems, rooftop as landing spaces for vehicles and to create public realms, which predominantly car parks don’t have.”
