On 23rd March, Annie Statham, Partner and Director of the Studio, was invited to the join the opening ceremony of or China Landmark 100 Exhibition and participate in the following ArchiTech City and Digital Design panel discussion at Design Shenzhen.
Organised by the Royal Institute of British Architects, the exhibition is truly a unique opportunity to trace and contemplate upon the development of urban complex in China through the winning projects from last year’s World Architecture Festival x RIBA China Landmark 100 Awards, which includes one of our signature works – PeaceBird Fashion Centre.
Not only are we honoured to witness the inclusion of our design in the narrative of China’s urban development, but we are also delightful to announce that the exhibition is curated by architects at Daniel Statham Studio. Inspired by Mies van der Rohe’s Barcelona Pavilion, our curatorial design focuses on creating a dynamic discussive and educational platform for every visitor – not just architects – at Design Shenzhen to gain an understanding of the accelerated urban growth in China during the recent decades, and how urban landmarks influence this process of place-making.
As Studio Founder and Director Daniel Statham suggested in the curatorial prologue, “Through this RIBA initiative, the Landmark 100 has recognized that place-making, landmarks and spaces – all of which elevate the social dynamics of communities – are intrinsic to architecture in our cities and landscapes.”
Annie Statham, Partner and Director of the Studio, was invited to the join the opening ceremony of exhibition and “ArchiTech City Forum,” sharing the Studio’s curatorial approach and application of digital design and architectural technology in actual practice.
