It is an absolute honour to share that Daniel Statham Studio’s latest project Future Car Park has been selected by Sir Norman Foster, 2024-guest-editor of Domus magazine, for the May issue, which is dedicated to the topic of mobility.
With a capacity of 500 parking spaces for electric and non-electric vehicles, Future Car Park in Hangzhou challenges the conventional, often negative connotations associated with public parking lots by generating an iconic, multi-functional urban landmark through the integration of the latest parking technology, exhibition, public and commercial spaces, and lighting show.
“Between automated systems, public and event spaces, and a rooftop garden, the facility stands as a model for the car park of the future,” Domus commented, “from a social and political standpoint, the project adeptly amalgamates architecture, mobility, and nature into a balanced visual and tactile experience. This synthesis not only underscores the city’s technological ambitions but also bestows upon the locale a newfound cultural identity.”
4 prestigious international awards, more than 20 media coverage in 10 languages, 100, 000+ posts on social media, and now with this Domus May issue feature, we are incredibly appreciative and proud to see the growing recognition of our design by both the professional and the public. A huge shoutout to our ambitious client, excellent consultants, and every team member at Daniel Statham Studio!
