This 25 m tall polished stainless steel structure is located in the heart of Shanghai next to Suzhou Creek and next to the development designed by Foster and Partners for the Huarun Group. This piece formed part of the client programme to create several art pieces within this location.
Lisson Gallery also introduced Tatsuo Miyajima to the project to create and install pieces of his work to the site based on his works around the digital installation Counter Void from 2003. The pieces would combine with Embrace to illuminate the site from sunset to create visual stimulation into the sunset hours continuing the encouragement of congregation and relaxation in the city park public space.

— Lewis Mumford, American sociologist
